Not to mention the drug war has been a complete failure and waste of money since it has been put in place in the late 1930s. The Drug War was also based on race because minorities were becoming more successful and the Republicans and the rest of "White America" during that time could not let that happen. Also at that time, Asians were doing opium and blacks and Hispanics were smoking the hemp plants that the US was growing. And years before the Drug War was put in place, drug abuse was decreasing tremendously. The Drug War was heavily based off of RACE. Whites and blacks nowadays use drugs at the same rate but blacks and other minorities are arrested 4x more. This has to be addressed. The Drug War is a failure.
